Knox United Church:
but these months certainly go by fast. Hard to believe we are almost at the end of another church year. Unfortunately, we have recently received a letter of resignation from our minister Rev. Sarah Giles effective August 31, 2025. This is very sad news, and we know that we will be busy over the summer.

We held another successful craft/trade show on May 10, 2025. At this time, we would like to thank the Town of Bredenbury for the extra help they give us throughout the year. Also, to Sandy Kotzer of Wine & Roses for generously donating a door prize over the years. The winner of the door prize was Amanda Hutchings of Bredenbury. We certainly appreciate the support we receive from everyone for our fund raisers. Looking ahead, we have tentatively set the date of December 6, 2025, for our Christmas craft/trade show.

100 anniversary of the formation of the United Church of Canada, June 8, 2025, at 11:00 am. Saltcoats Regional Park pavilion. Potluck, finger food. Bring lawn chairs. Our final service in June will be our Bredenbury Cemetery Memorial Service on June 15, 2025, at 11:00 am.

A memorial service honoring those who have died. Service will start at Knox United Church, move to Bredenbury cemetery, and return to the church for lunch which will be provided. All are welcome. Please pass this information on to your family and friends.

There will be no services on Pastoral Charge during July and August.

Broadway Avenue:
Please note that the RM of Saltcoats owns the West side of Broadway Avenue and they will be doing more maintenance on it once their road around Bredenbury gets completed. Right now only delivery drivers, those needing repairs at local service stations, CPR and a couple local farmers have permission to drive on this road.

Council of Bredenbury is still awaiting estimates for pothole repairs for rest of the streets which we hope will be completed in July. We will not be doing crack sealing this year as there is not enough localized cracks in one area.

Lagoon:
Lagoon discharge has been completed for the spring.

Building Permits:
Just a reminder if you are building a deck, fence, a shed, a shop, a gazebo, etc. that is over 100 square feet you need to get a building permit. This includes sea cans, prefabbed buildings and even car ports. The forms can be picked up at the town office or found on our website at www.townofbedenbury.ca.

Once you fill in a building permit and provide a site drawing you will be asked to call the residential building inspector to discuss if an inspection is needed and if so at what stages. Prebuilt things usually don’t need an inspection but do need a permit, we need that permit to approve through Council minutes and to provide to SAMA.

If you need an inspection, then inspector then bills the municipality, and we bill you. There is no extra charge of administration for the permit, we just charge you what the municipality gets charged. The residential building inspector is a very nice person to talk to and makes the process as easy as possible for you. There are some buildings that do require engineered plans that protects you as the homeowner, especially if you are hiring a contractor. This is the law throughout Saskatchewan including rural municipalities.

Summer Students:
The Town of Bredenbury has hired back Eyob and Brady as summer students; they have started part-time until schools out.

In July we have two more students starting Coby Prince as full-time and Cody Bergen as casual.

There has been a lot of interest in summer students position over the past couple years is very nice to see, we wish we had a spot for all of you.

Churchbridge Credit Union Community Grant:
Thanks to Churchbridge Credit Union for giving Bredenbury Cemetery $1000 to put up a gazebo so visitors can have some shade at cemetery.

Water Repairs:
The hydrant on corner of High Street and 2nd Avenue has been replaced.

A new water main has been installed on intersection of 5th street and Kensington Avenue this is a prelude to future water main line repairs in the upcoming years for 5th Street.
