HAPPY BIRTHDAY BREDENBURY 112 YEARS ON MAY 1.

Newsletters are available to pick up at town office and at community bulletin board.

Office Hours:
The office is open Monday to Thursday 8:30 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. Closed over lunch. Office is closed at other periods of time for meetings, helping public works, helping daycare, banking, etc.

The office will be closed on May 19. Just a reminder if there is an emergency call our emergency phone line at 306-217-TOWN.

 

Utility Billings:
Unpaid utility bills for second quarter are now overdue. Please make immediate payment to avoid disconnection.

 

Taxes:
Everyone should have their tax notice now, if you did not receive one, please contact the town office. To get maximum discount pay taxes on or before July 31, 2025. All taxes must be paid by December 31, 2025.

 

Knox United Church:
Upcoming regular Bredenbury services: May 11, 18 and June 15, 2025 at 11:00 am There will be no services on the Pastoral Charge during July and August.

Just a couple of reminders about upcoming events: The semi-annual craft/trade show on May 10, 2025 at the Bredenbury Community Hall from 10:00 am to 2:00 pm. Tables are all booked so we should have something for everyone. Don’t forget baking for the bake table or a cash donation if baking is not your thing. We certainly appreciate the support we receive from everyone. Please have your baking at the hall by 9:00 am for pricing.

Looking ahead, we have tentatively set the date of December 6, 2025 for our Christmas craft/trade show.

Bredenbury Cemetery Memorial Service. June 15, 2025. Church service at Bredenbury @ 11:00 am. It will be a special service for everyone. Short service at the church and then will go to the cemetery in Bredenbury. It will be an opportunity for all to visit and remember our loved ones who have passed away. Everyone welcome to attend. Please pass this information on to your friends and relatives. Lunch will be served back at the church after the cemetery visit.

100 anniversary of the formation of the United Church of Canada, June 8, 2025 @ 11:00 am. At Saltcoats Regional Park pavilion. Potluck, finger food. Bring lawn chairs. Spring and Summer blessings.

 

Free Garbage Pickup:
There will be Free Garbage Pickup on May 21 & 22. Call 306-898-2055 to schedule a pickup. We will not pick up paint, shingles, batteries. We will only pick up large appliances if we have room.

 

Community Wide Garage Sale & Craft Show:
The date set for Community wide garage sales is May 10 from 9-3. Map is attached.

Craft show is in Bredenbury Hall same day from 10-2. Silver collection. Lunch available.

There will be a Bredenbury Community Daycare outside of the rink from 10-2. If weather does not cooperate it still will be held but inside the rink. Bounders will be set up in the rink from 9:30-2:30 $10 plus $3 socks. Half proceeds will go to Bredenbury Daycare.

 

Bredenbury Lions:
Bredenbury Lions have a Mother’s Day Raffle going on right now. Buy your tickets from a Lions member or from Town office. Tickets are $5 each and there are 4 wonderful baskets to win.

The Lions will be having a Garage sale on May 10 at 121 – 5th Street.

The Lions will continue to have morning coffee until June 30 they will take a break during summer holidays. Thanks for your support.

 

Bus Bees:
There will be no more afternoon coffee at Busy Bees since the bar has re-opened for coffee again. We will re-evaluate in the fall. Thanks for your support.

 

Hydrant Flushing:
The Town of Bredenbury plans to flush hydrants on May 7, 2025, if the weather cooperates. During this time, you may experience decreased water pressure and discoloration of water. It is recommended you avoid doing laundry on this day.

 

Sump Pumps:
Please ensure that your sump pumps are going outside not to the sewer. The lift station cannot handle everyone’s ground water. Plus it is illegal to pump into sewer.

 

Sask. Lotteries Grant:
Congratulations to all the groups who received funds from Sask. Lotteries this year which included: Saltcoats School, Bredenbury Rink, Bredenbury Community Fitness Center, Bredenbury Busy Bees, Bredenbury Golf Course, Bredenbury Parks, Bredenbury Community

Gym. Thanks to Sask. Lotteries for the annual grant of $7184.

 

Golf Course:
Bredenbury Golf Course held their annual meeting on April 23 and a new executive was elected. President Kirk Byczynski. Vice President Tanner Burman. Secretary Nikki Haas. Thank you for stepping up and volunteering. The term will be 2 years.

Thank you very much to Robert and Heather Taylor for their years of service as Secretary and Vice-President it did not go unnoticed, your dedication means so much to our golf course and community.

The Golf Course is looking to see if anyone is interested in a seasonal contract at the golf course, please express interest by calling Kirk at 306-521-1183 or Perry at 306-621-7034.

The Bredenbury Golf Course is getting ready for the season. We will be holding CPR rock clean up on May 3 at 9 a.m. if you can help us out please attend. We will be holding the main cleanup of the clubhouse and bush on May 24 at 9 a.m.

If you haven’t done so you can pay your annual golf fees at the town office. The fees remain the same: Family $215. Adult $165. Seniors $140. Under 18 $50. Daily $10. Coupon Book 6 rounds for $50.

You can pay your fees at the town office. E-transfers can be made to bredenbury@sasktel.net. Please put in the memo that payment is for golf membership.

Do you want to advertise at our golf course? A golf course sign is $100 plus $30 to make it if you don’t have an existing one. To order a sign contact Kirk at 306-521-1183. Payments can be made at town office or by e-transfer to bredenbury@sasktel.net but please ensure in memo you put your business name and that it is for a golf course sign. Thanks for supporting our golf course.

This year’s tournaments will be: Open May 31 watch for Posters, Daycare June 21 watch for posters, Members Fall.

Men’s Night will continue to happen Monday Nights at 6:30 p.m. Seniors Mixed Golf will be on Thursdays at 1:00 p.m. and Women’s Golf will be every Tuesday at 1:00 p.m. Subject to change with weather and or daylight hours.

Thank you everyone who purchased flowers as a fundraiser for the golf course. You will be notified shortly on a pickup day and time.

 

Walking Trail:
The walking trail is open, it starts on 5th Street near Cano’s Automotive. There are doggy bags at beginning of the trail, take one along on your walk. The trail is about 3 km if you do the whole loop. There are a few sitting areas along the way as well as a garbage can. No quads or bikes on the walking trail. Thanks, Murray, for your continued volunteerism in keeping our trail nice.

 

Curling Funspiel:
The curling Funspiel raised over $7500. Thankyou to all the volunteers from icemakers, to kitchen helpers, to cooking beef, cooking breakfast, to baking desserts, to registration collection to raffle table and 50-50 workers, etc.

Bredenbury Community Daycare:
On May10th the daycare will be hosting a BBQ during the community garage sale. We need 1-2 BBQ's. Please contact the office at 306-898-0055 if you have one, that we can borrow. Watch for details and a chance to get some volunteer hours!

The 3rd Annual Golf Tournament will be happening in June. Details on the golf tournament will follow shortly!

Please start canvassing for donations for prizes for our fundraising events (golf and online auction); we appreciate when residents are able to help us out too with prizes!

Daycare will be closed Monday May 19. 

Daycare is always looking for casual ECE employees. Please talk to Naomi about various opportunities. The daycare is looking for a part time/casual cook. Call 306-898-0055 for details or send resumes to bredenburycommunitydaycare@gmail.com.
