Golf Club:

There will be a public meeting at the Bredenbury Hall on Thursday, April 9, 2015 at 7:30 p.m. Everyone welcome. Topics will include: artificial greens, volunteers, club house.

 

Office Hours:

Regular hours are Mondays and Thursdays 8:30 a.m. – 2:30 p.m. and Tuesday, Wednesday and Fridays 8:30 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. Closed over the lunch hour. Closed on all Stat holidays. The office will be closed at 12:00 p.m. on Thursday, April 9. The office will be also closed on May 4 and May 11.

 

Utility Bills:

Utility Bills were sent out April 1. The read went well. There were 12 meters that did not read; these meters are being replaced. There were 2 meters that still were not installed. There were 40 homes/businesses that were over their usage; these financial amounts varied from .65 - $25 over three months. There were five homes that had a continuous leak for 35+ days.

 

Councillor:

The Town of Bredenbury would like to welcome new Councillor, by acclamation, Kelly Rudkevitch to Council. We look forward to working with you.

 

Summer Student:

The Town of Bredenbury has been approved for a summer student grant.

Duties will include but not limited to: cutting grass, pulling weeds, trimming branches, cleaning shop, minor vehicle maintenance.

Employees:

The Town of Bredenbury regrets to inform the community that Kelsey Campbell has resigned from her position on Public Works. Kelsey decided to move on to a new position. We wish Kelsey the best of luck, she will be greatly missed.

TOWN OF BREDENBURY - PUBLIC WORKS POSITION

The Town of Bredenbury is looking to hire a second full time Public Works position

Applicant Must:

  • Driver’s Licence (preference to Class 3 or better with Air Brake Endorsement)
  • Grade 12 or GED
  • Physically Fit
  • Heavy Equipment Courses and experience
  • Criminal Record Check required
  • Be available for weekend and evening work when required
  • Be available in emergency situations (snow storms, water breaks)
  • Able to work as a team player, and independently
  • Able to follow direction in a timely manner
  • Able to obtain Class 1 Water & Sewer Certification (preference if you have)
  • Desire to continually upgrade education, mostly in safety field
  • Preference will be given to individuals who have all their Safety Certifications (WHIMIS, Ground Disturbance, Confined Space Entry, PME, etc.)

Duties:

  • General equipment maintenance
  • Snow removal
  • Grass cutting
  • Tree trimming
  • Water & Sewer Checks
  • General building maintenance and checks
  • Painting
  • Weeding
  • Watering

Sump Pumps:

It’s that time of year again when sump pumps will be starting. Remember to put your sump pump drain outside the house, not in the sewer. Our lift station cannot handle any access drainage.

 

Dogs & Cats:

Letters have been sent to all the residents that have a dog and have still not registered it. The office is receiving daily complaints about dogs running at large throughout the community.

 

Town of Bredenbury will also be catching dogs and cats that are running at large and will be kept in the town shop for three days, if the owner comes forward they will be subject to a financial penalty, if the owner does not come forward the dogs will try to be re-homed.

 

Taxes:

The Taxes will be mailed out by the end of April. If you pay your taxes before the end of July you will receive a 5% discount on municipal portion. If you pay your taxes before the end of September you will receive a 3% municipal discount. You may make tax payments through internet banking, telephone banking, debit, Mastercard, Visa, cash or cheque. You also can be set up on monthly withdrawals.

 

This year the base tax will remain the same at $700. The mill rate will increase by 1 mill; from 6 mills to 7 mills. The mill rate factor for businesses will decrease .5; from a factor of 5 to a factor of 4.5.

 

Traffic:

There have been several reports of people going through stop signs. There are so many children in the community we do not want to see anyone get hurt. Please abide by the stop signs and speed limits within town.

 

Soon the speed bumps will be put up by the park to ensure our children’s safety, if the community does not slow down and use the stop signs, we may have to look at speed bumps in different locations.

 

If you see someone performing an illegal traffic action please contact the RCMP as they are the ones who enforce traffic laws in our community.
