Rink Grand Re-Opening:
The Community of Bredenbury and the Bredenbury Rink Board would like to thank everyone who attended the rink Re-opening. It was wonderful to see so many people at the event. We are excited and proud to have our rink re-opening and it looks amazing.
The name suits the community as well; for our arena can only operate with the support of communities; hence the name SGI Canada Community Arena.
Thank you to all the volunteers who made the reopening a success, it takes many, many people to organize, plan, decorate, cleanup, cook, etc. for an event like this. Thank you again to all volunteers in our community.
If you accidently took home a glow in the dark shirt please return it to the town office at 201 – 3rd Street in Bredenbury, we would like the shirts back so that we can host another glow skating party in the future. Thank you.
Bredenbury Arena Clock:
The new clock has arrived and has been put up in the rink. The clock is working great and a great addition to the rink.
The actual cost of the clock was $7,691.25. So far $6,000 has been donated. If you would like to make a donation, make cheques payable to Town of Bredenbury – clock and a tax deductible receipt will be issued.
The next Cougar Home games will be played in Bredenbury on Friday, January 2, 2014 at 8:00 p.m. and Saturday, January 3, 2014 at 8:00 p.m. Good luck Cougars.
Christmas Garbage Pickup and Recycling:
Garbage carts will be picked up on December 29, 2014 in lieu of Christmas day.
The Town of Bredenbury is going to change the recycling schedule to once a month for residents and businesses. Several residents and businesses say they cannot fill their bin or cart up in two weeks; changing to once a month pickup will save the municipality over $600 a month. If you have excess recycling that cannot fit into your cart, please call the office at 306-898-2055 and we can arrange for you to use a municipal bin.
The new calendar attached for new schedule.
Garbage cart pickup will continue to be every two weeks.
Bredenbury Arena Public Skating:
Public Skating Times will be until further notice:
Monday – Friday 3:45 p.m. – 5:45 p.m.
Saturday and Sunday – 1:00 p.m. – 3:00 p.m.
Changes to Public Skating schedule will be posted at rink and in post office when possible. It will be cancelled at times for games, weather, or tournaments.
There are no skating fees this year and no charges for public skating, so everyone please take this opportunity to enjoy the arena.
There will be no public skating on December 24, 25, 26 or January 1.
The Lions put up a donation sheet at the town office and Roundup Butcher shop asking for donations to help cover the costs of distributing candy bags to Saltcoats School during the Christmas Concert.
With winter upon us please remember to avoid leaving parked vehicles on the streets when it snows. The grader is unable to do a good job of cleaning the streets when there are obstacles.
This also includes recycling and garbage carts, please return them to your home as soon as possible after pickup. Please also remember our bylaw that all obstacles such as rocks and rebar must be 15 feet back from pavement so the streets can be plowed wide.
This is a reminder that taxes must be paid in full by December 31, 2014. Unpaid taxes are subject to a 10% penalty starting January 1, 2015.
Unpaid Utility Bills will be put onto taxes at year end. These utility bills will also have a penalty of 10% penalty applied January 1, 2015.
Registered mail has been sent to individuals with those outstanding accounts.
The Town of Bredenbury will be reading the meters on December 31, 2014 and overage charges will be applied to your January 1, 2015 billing. The actual water used will be displayed as correct on your next bill.
If you are a home that does not use much water, it might be a good idea to keep a tap dripping over the winter season; you should have a better idea of how much you use with the next billing and can decide.
No Feeding Deer:
Residents are not to feed deer within town limits. The deer kill trees and foliage. If you want to feed deer we recommend you purchase hay and feed them away from the municipality.
Christmas & New Year Wishes:
The Town of Bredenbury Mayor, Council and staff would like to wish everyone a safe and happy holiday season.
