Town of Bredenbury
100th Anniversary

A celebration of the Town of Bredenbury’s 100th Anniversary took place on the weekend of August 2nd to 5th, 2013.

The event was a huge success. More than 1000 participants were registered from across Canada. Events were held in the Community Hall, a large tent set up on Kensington Avenue and another tent located at the Sunnyside Golf Course, as well as the Busy Bees Senior Centre and the Lions Den.

Friday’s activities consisted of a refreshment garden and music at the Kensington tent location.

Events on Saturday included a pancake breakfast, a parade led by 9 former and present RCMP officers, who all had connections to our community. The parade was followed by an antique car show and dedications. Kids activities were held throughout the afternoon, as well as a tea. Opening ceremonies took place at 5:30 pm, followed by a supper attended by over 500 people. From 9:00 pm to 1:00 pm there was an Old Time Dance in the community Hall as well as a Cabaret in the street tent.

Sunday started out with a pancake breakfast, followed by an interdenominational church service and brunch. In the afternoon, kids enjoyed various activities, and a golf tournament took place at the Sunnyside Golf Course. At dusk, a bonfire and wiener roast was held. The evening was capped off with a fantastic half hour fireworks display.

Displays from Bredenbury’s past were put up in various locations, and a silent auction ran all weekend.

A pancake breakfast Monday morning concluded the weekend’s events.

The event rose over $30,000; these funds are being used to enhance the beautification and recreation in our community.

Thank you to all who attended.
